I’m in NYC on business, so I didn’t get to fish this weekend. Fine with me as the action slowed down due the weather that’s blown in. The Western Outdoor News White Seabass tourney that was postponed occurred this last weekend. Ironically, the winning entry was a 38.2 pound halibut in the new expanded format (that seems to be the theme in this year’s derbies so far).  Full details here on WON.

We seem to be on a rockfish tip again, but there has been some good “exotic” action out there in Catalina, mainly in terms of the white seabass.  Check out the smaller boats,  Options and Toronado, to get in on this action.  I’m probably jinxing it, but Capt. Tino Valantine has had the hot hand for about a week now, getting boat limits for the lucky anglers aboard the Options.

I’ll be fishing next out of Bay Shore, NY to get in on the hot striper action off Long Island with Capt. Paul Mandella of  Maybe Tonight charters.  I brought my cameras, so keep your fingers crossed that the fishing and filming all come together.  Tight lines.
