Seven of the 10

Back when I first started the blog, one of the things I learned was that people love lists. The So Cal Salty Top 10 list was created to showcase the top So Cal gamefish to catch across a broad spectrum of the many places we fish, styles of fishing etc. If you can catch all 10 over the course of the year, then you are someone who has shown they don’t just do what they’re good at or what’s easy, but chase all the fish that our great fishery has to offer.

Pretty happy where I am at the halfway point. The 2 that tend to trip me (and a lot of people) up, white seabass and halibut, I’ve already got.

Of the 3 still to get (barracuda, corbina and tuna), I have plenty of time to get them. I got a barracuda during my June Graylight trip, but it was on bait (must be on a jig) so it was bycatch while fishing for white seabass.

I’ve started getting back on the beach (and actually got my first ever spotfin croaker! – right), so it’s just a matter of time on corbina. Tuna, I’ve only gone out twice for so far. It’s still early. Feeling good about the prospects of getting a perfect 10 for the year.
