IMG_6139Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you my salty friends.  The holidays can be a stressful time.  They’ve been especially stressful for me since I got divorced.    I’ve learned to deal with it though and I’m making the best of it.  I definitely don’t take anything for granted.  I’ve learned to appreciate everything more…especially my kids, my friends, and of course time spent on the water.

Yesterday my day was especially brightened though.  I had Jacob and Juliana all day.  My buddy Vance visited and had breakfast with us, and I witnessed a Christmas miracle!

It all started about a month ago.  I was surf fishing with my friend Mike, aka Hak, in the South Bay (El Segundo).  The fishing wasn’t particularly memorable, but the day was.  I was walking in the sand when I noticed something and picked it up.  “Hey Mike, I found a GoPro!”  We wondered if a fellow fisherman might have lost it.  It was pretty salty…caked with sand.  I was just hoping the card was good and we talked all day of the epic battle our fellow angler must have had when maybe he lost his footing on the jetty, took a fall, and dumped the camera off his head (it was attached in a head harness).

IMG_6072After fishing, Mike and I had lunch and I posted this picture to Instagram and facebook.  Everyone had fun speculating with their own take about what might be on the SD card too.  As soon as I got home, I opened up the case.  Although the case looked really bad, the camera inside looked like it might be ok.  I popped out the card and lo and behold, it was ok and there was some content on it.  It didn’t turn out to a fellow angler.

It was a…well just watch the video and see:
