If you’ve been following along on twitter and/or facebook, you’re probably getting sick of me saying it. After awhile, it doesn’t seem like a big deal anymore. Well, it’s a big deal! Thick schools of yellowfin tuna are within overnight range south of San Diego and they’re biting. Mixed in with the yellowfin are yellowtail and dorado. There is still some bluefin around, but the bulk of them seem to have migrated north and the overnight boats out of OC, Long Beach and 22nd St. are getting into them.

Good stuff people. One of the best bites in years! We will hopefully have another 4-6 weeks of it. I’m getting on a 1.5 day trip tonight (Sunday). I highly recommend you make plans for an October tuna trip today.
