When I went out last weekend on the Pacific Islander, I thought the new regulations were already in place.  Conditions were too lousy to fish very deep.  We were already using a pound of weight at times.  So I thought Capt. Steve just didn’t explore too deep.

At the end of the day, I kept 3 lings in my sack and then was surprised to find only 2 when I got home.  WTH!  Come to find out the new regulations weren’t in place…YET.  I was going to make an effort this week to find out the deal, and then midweek it was revealed on the DFW blog that new regulations were in place immediately.

Notably, we got our 10 fathoms back.  We went from 50 fathoms (300 feet), back to 60 fathoms (360 feet).  We might need it in this El Nino year.  Also, and this one is very near and dear to me, the lingcod limit went from 2 fish to 3!  If you’d like to read the full text, you’ll find it HERE
